MTG often sounds and acts like the women on the old Hee Haw shows. She can make you wince sometimes. She’s not dumb so why she has to act like this I don’t know. Love your articles Mr Stark, you have interesting intelligent points of view. I also listen to your podcast, great, unusual to hear from guests
Nobody's perfect. Let's not forget that O'Connor, while serving as an Arizona state senator, was instrumental in successfully overturning various discriminatory measures against women. So, even with respect to discrimination, she was sometimes the hero and other times the villain.
- These types are often good at business but think that knowing about geography or philosophy is for nerds.
There is no need for intellectualism in real life, especially if someone's brain is not wired for it.
What counts is going out in the world and gather enough resources to carry the day. Imagine people in companies dealing with customers that don't want to pay all the time and often end up not paying the full amount for good/services. How do you interest yourself in philosophy with this crap going in the back of your head all day long. And besides, most intellectualism is just for showing off, imagine if every rube would engage in it, public discourse become more convoluted and ridiculous than wokism.
Dillettantes...you beat me to it...to be fair, I would bet MTG was making a rhetorical point, but her persona does leave her open to the "smoothbrain" charge.
You make some correct observations here but to make it about this specific quote is completely off base and it feels like you just were looking for an excuse to write this column. An old leftist anti-war cliche was indeed that whoever our supposed enemy was at that time, most Americans couldn't find them on a map, and while the left does call Americans stupid frequently, this specific point wasn't a knock on Americans so much as pointing out the absurdity of wanting to intervene there
This is nonsense. Most people cannot locate Ukraine, which validates her point that the public is ignorant of Ukraine issues, not the opposite.
Liberals win because of this? Try to learn basic reasoning. The left appeals to its supporters with much more low IQ stuff than comes from MAGA people. They win due to massive media support and the ignorance of the public.
I agree wholehartedly that, if the Democratic Party is going to be successful this November, it's essential that it refrain from running on a "MAGA followers are stupid" and "Trump is literally Hitler" platforms. Voters don't let either of those obstacles stop them from siding with the GOP when they witness the results of unchecked crime in urban centers, a flood of illegal immigrants, hyperinflation and Democratic Party pandering to alt-left, woke radical extremism. Polls from each and every source show Trump doing paradoxically well considering the fact that he's described by corporate media as a "convicted fellon." It's expected that, if the election was held today, Trump would achieve an Electoral-college victory... a repeat of 2016... with the same amount of bitchophizing by flabbergasted liberals.
This is not about perfection, since no one is. This is not about Sandra either, but you brought her up. This is about the ridiculous article I am commenting on. A judge bypassing law and making discrimination legal for 25 years, as Sandra stated, is seriously imperfect, in a moral, ethical and logical way.
Since you say she is a villain and a hero, that also applies to MTG, but the author hits her hard for what she is. I noticed that the author makes lots of bankhanded shots at conservatives, so I do not expect to read here again.
The idea that the left wins because of people like MTG is just plain ridiculous. The author did not attempt to make a case for that, since he has none. It's a cheap shot. There is no useful content in his statements.
This comment illustrates why we stand to lose to the GOP in November. Rather than competently discuss the issues, too many of us are finding it necessary to make senseless remarks of the type Trump is famous for.
Cyberbullying isn't logical response. The valid point that most Americans often support what they don't sufficiently understand was described in several comments.

Yes. If only someone could get through to MTG with a version of "Less Minnie Pearl and more Sandra Day O'Connor, please!"
Try reading Sandra's ruling on AA, where she legalized discrimination, something MTG would not have done. Consider right versus wrong over all else.

- The Left are dilatants ---> dilettantes

What she should have said was. "2 years ago, no common person could find Ukraine on a map". This is undoubtably true

Go back to your Haley and Pence fan clubs.

Yeah, I think the word is "reinforce". That's cool how you lack basic literacy skills while calling others stupid philistines, lol.

Not usually someone who goes after people's looks but MTG looks like the missing link.
Most definitely some American Indian heritage is evident in her features.

What is embarrassing? You were unable to cite a single invalid point MTG made. Aren't you embarrassing yourself?
