As a Californian and a pessimist, I'm just not sure we've quite yet reached the moment when a critical mass of people will turn on the Democratic/woke establishment. (And I'm basing this on nothing but my own feelings and thoughts.)

I am what you could describe as a disaffected Gen X former liberal, with my friends here all more or less working in culture/media/Hollywood, and I think most of these people still have an electrified fence in their brains that tells them the most important part of social life (at least in re politics) is to never, ever, under any circumstances be mistaken for anything less than an enthusiastic liberal.

The Woke have done an excellent job of policing their side of the aisle and of culturally conditioning your average urban liberal into believing that opposing them is opposing the righteous march of progress, or more directly, opposing them is equal to anti-black and anti-gay bigotry, and anyone who even contemplates this is ipso facto a possibly evil Deplorable.

So, assuming the race gets tight, the media wing of the Democratic party (which in Cali is the entire media) will start denouncing Shellenberger as suspiciously retrograde, possibly bigot- or Republican-adjacent, and this will be enough to convince the various soccer moms and other standard liberals to stick with the devil they know (Gavin).

There is a lot of ruin in a state, esp a state like Cali that is a Golden Goose with enormous natural resources and natural beauty plus a massive tax base of Tech and Hollywood riches, so I don't think the rot has totally seeped in yet. But we shall see....

I'd actually like to hear more "real" things about this guy..What are his actual plans to really address the homeless problem (I live in LA), the cost of housing, including renting and the shortage of actual housing..This article unfortunatly doesnt talk about his plans just his thoughts..I guess I'll look him up as this is very 1st time I've heard his name...All I know is CA is becoming ugly (this includes our residents & politicians) and its definetly become unaffordable for the majority, it seems CA and our politicians cater to the wealthy and do zero for the rest of us except make us suffer financially & mentally..Something has to change because the exodus is real and I watch weekly more & more flee...Its so bad Newsom keeps trying to tax state & city employees pensions if/when they leave the state, this is a sign of panick and again trying to screw the little guy by trying to get them to pay 2 state taxes on their pensions. Signed an Independant!
