Pros
-Trump's re-election as a convict, especially if he is incarcerated by election time, would be a massive disruption to the system
-Voting Trump is a symbolic f-you to the establishment
-Trump has all the right adversaries
-Trump helps expand the Overton Window
-The existential danger to Trump’s freedom could serve as a motivator for him to act decisively if re-elected
-If Trump loses, the Biden admin will unleash another wave of political repression
-Trump will slow down massive demographic change and Biden's mass immigration agenda
-Trump's re-election would be a morale boost to non-liberal White Americans
Cons
-Trump hinted that he is open to having neocons like Haley and Pompeo back in his cabinet
-Oligarchs, especially Wall Street, are cozying up to Trump
-Expect Trump to reinstate tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and corporations while not offering much economic support for those struggling
-Trump’s overall political message is incoherent
-Trump’s past disappointments in terms of policy and lack of action are good predictions of a 2nd Trump term
-Trump does not have a serious plan to take on the Deep State and drain the swamp
-Trump getting re-elected could cause a resurgence in wokeness and solidify the alliance between the Left and neoliberal center
-In contrast, under Biden, there has been woke fatigue plus a growing divide between the Left and neoliberal center over Israel and income inequality
-Trump failing would energize the Left and establishment while leaving his base demoralized
-Trump gives false hope that America can be taken back and just delays the inevitable post-American order
-Trump is terrible on environmental issues
The Democrats seem to have more oligarchs, especially Tech, than Trump. And more Wall Street support.
I’d be highly surprised if Trump’s conviction actually results in his imprisonment. I think many of these convictions sill be reversed on appeal and/or tied up in litigation for perhaps years to come.
