The cases against Tyson Foods and Colony Ridge as opportunities for a Left/Right Coalition
Why Immigration Restrictionists and Environmentalists should be natural allies
The meat processing giant, Tyson Foods, garnered the attention of conservative media for their plans to lay off American workers in mass and replace them with 40k migrants. Tyson’s plan is enabled by a special program crafted by the Biden admin to incentivize corporations to hire migrants. While Tyson Foods’ move has been described as a woke takeover of corporate America, the company has long been a target of environmentalists and animal rights activists. For instance, The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) accused Tyson of corporate “greenwashing” and of failing to meet environmental standards on pollution. Tyson has also been accused by animal rights watchdog groups of mistreating chickens. While Tyson claimed to have severed ties with a particular farm where animals were mistreated, factory farming is inevitably cruel to animals and harmful to the environment, due to the sheer numbers of animals that must be processed.
On a similar note, Biden’s Justice Department sued the Colony Ridge Development near Houston Texas, on the grounds of targeting Latino buyers with a bait-and-switch scheme. Texas’s Republican Attorney General also filed suit against Colony Ridge. While the Colony Ridge development is an ecological disaster, it was the anti-illegal immigration movement that brought attention to the developer building a mega sprawl community, that caters to new migrants from Latin America. While environmentalism is considered leftwing and immigration restrictionism is considered rightwing, they should naturally go together, as they challenge the profit-above-all agenda of neoliberal capitalism. It is just that the artificial left-right paradigm does not allow for that synthesis.
I'd like to read a longer version of this post.
There are many other examples of this "artificial left-right paradigm" in the US which "doesn't allow for that synthesis," such as abortion. There's no reason why white identity politics or immigration restrictionism should be paired with abortion restrictions. Even many on the white right support abortion rights.
