President Trump said that he intends to decide whether to remove legal protections for the 240k Ukrainian and Afghan refugees that were granted asylum under Biden. The number of Ukrainians who fled the war with Russia to America could be as high as 400k. Not only is Trump considering removing temporary protection status for Ukrainians, but he may also put them on the fast track for deportation. This potential decision is in stark contrast to my speculation that Trump may try to boost White immigration, considering his executive order regarding South Africa.

While Trump granting asylum to White Afrikaners from South Africa is groundbreaking symbolically, the numbers immigrating may very well be a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of non-White immigration and overall White decline. Say America welcomes 40k White Afrikaners, but Trump deports 150k Ukrainians; that ends up being a significant net loss for White demographics. Trump issued another declaration to grant South African farmers asylum with a rapid path to citizenship. However, he did not specify the race of the farmers. It is also unclear whether he plans to replace the existing executive order for Afrikaners or add to it.

Trump was friendlier to Ukrainian refugees during his first term, with liberals even accusing him of favoring them over non-White refugees. However, it seems that Trump is punishing Ukrainians for being aligned with the Biden administration. Ukrainian Americans used to vote GOP for anti-communist reasons but swung Democrat recently due to the war. Thus, Trump views them as future Democrat voters. Trump and his supporters favor Afrikaners over Ukrainians, in part due to them being much more likely to support MAGA. It is plausible that White South Africans become a rightwing elite diaspora in America, comparable to Cubans.

What is especially egregious is that Trump proposed deporting Ukrainians while he has hardly deported that many illegal immigrants. Not to mention that Trump has praised H1B visas. With Trump’s proposed gold card visas for wealthy foreigners who can cough up $5 million, the US might get some Europeans, Russians, or Australians, but it is more likely to be Chinese, Indian, and Gulf Arab oligarchs.

The question is whether Trump will start aggressively deporting Ukrainians or let them stay but in legal limbo with some self deporting. It will be interesting to contrast the rates of deportation of Ukrainians with other groups of migrants, like Venezuelans and Haitians. It is also plausible that Trump backtracks, as he has not yet issued an executive order. If he does, there is a good chance it will be blocked by the Courts.

While leftists complained that Ukrainian refugees were shown favoritism for being White, a lot of MAGA types view Ukrainian refugees as no different than illegal immigrants from Latin America. Basically, the pro-White alt-right and center left Democrats support welcoming Ukrainians, while civic nationalist MAGA and anti-White leftists don’t. A lot of anti-immigrant MAGA types are desperate to prove they are not racist by also opposing White immigration. For instance, I predict that someone like Steve Bannon will say that it is good that Ukrainians are being deported because it opens up more job opportunities for US born Blacks and Latinos. Regardless, Ukrainians are genuine refugees fleeing war and not fake refugees like most of the economic migrants that Biden let in from Latin America.

Online comments complain that recent Ukrainian immigrants have displaced Americans for housing and jobs in their communities, which is true with any large number of new immigrants. I’ve also heard stories online that a subset of Ukrainians are scamming refugee benefits to buy brand new Teslas and rent apartments in desirable areas while using food banks. Obviously, White people are not immune to that kind of low trust behavior you find in the Third World.

Certainly, recent Ukrainian immigrants are more clannish and have a fairly different culture than White Americans. I think Ukrainians who settle in majority White areas will assimilate within a generation or two, though it is harder to say with those who settle in places like LA or Chicago. Another reason Trump supporters prefer White South Africans to Ukrainians is that they are closer culturally to Americans, though Afrikaners can also be fairly clannish.

There has been a lot of recent Ukrainian immigration to California, particularly to Sacramento but also to the Bay Area and LA. From what I’ve heard online and from friends in LA, recent Ukrainian immigrants are boosting the White population in working-class Latino areas in the San Fernando Valley, and Nouveau Riche Ukrainians and Russians are moving into the more affluent parts of the Valley. As a Californian, I see new Ukrainian immigrants as additional numbers for the dwindling White minority. However, I get why a White Red Stater might view Ukrainians as just another group of foreigners and not as kin, and how they might even prefer Foundational Black Americans over White foreigners.

I attended a majority Latino public high school in West LA where the small handful of attractive White girls were mostly Eastern Europeans, alongside White adjacent types like Persians and Castizas, with a miniscule number of White Americans. Ukrainian women are known for their beauty, and Afrikaner women are too, with both ethnicities being overrepresented among models. However, the latter is less well known as Afrikaners are a smaller demographic, and South Africa doesn’t attract a passport bro culture like Ukraine. The joke from a lot of Trump supporting men was that he was going to import all these Eastern European models.

The recent wave of Ukrainian refugees under Biden was the only significant White immigration to the US since the fall of the Soviet Union. I also think Trump should try to brain drain Russia, which would undermine Putin’s regime. However, in the long term, there will be no major potential sources of White immigration to the US. If Trump deports Ukrainians, they are more likely to go to Canada or the EU than back to Ukraine. Regardless, it is especially cruel for Trump to cut off their asylum right when he stopped funding for Ukraine.
